FAQ

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • What is glamping?

Glamping allows you to enjoy all the benefits of camping in the great outdoors without sacrificing comfort and luxury. It is lighter on the land and offers a fresh, luxurious way to unplug and relax deeper into nature.

A stay at Dunya Camp is an experience. This is not a regular hotel stay. There is no front desk and no room service. It's an immersive experience in an opulent tent with a host of amenities that will help you relax and restore in nature comfortably.

All our safari tents have air conditioning, heat, running water, a private bath, king size bed, and an spa deck with a hot tub, outdoor shower, and lounging areas. Some tents have a private barrel sauna for more restorative therapies under the stars.

  • Can I bring my kids?

We are an adult-oriented property, and all our tents sleep two people. We have a strict no babies and children under 12 policy. Children 12 years of age or older are welcome, but they would need to be booked into a separate tent. Please note there is an automatic $1000 fine for violating this policy.

  • Do you allow pets?

For the privacy and enjoyment of all our guests, we do not allow pets. Thank you for understanding.

Service animals are welcome with proper documentation.

  • Are the tents handicap accessible?

We have one tent that is handicap friendly with the following features.

    • easily accessible parking

    • ramp entry to tent and spa deck

    • rails in the shower & toilet

Please note that our common areas and walking trails are not handicap accessible.

  • What is the check-in and check-out process?

Check-in starts at 5 pm.  We cannot accommodate any early check-in or late check-out requests.

You can arrive any time after 5 pm, but we strongly recommend arriving before dusk as the sunsets are spectacular, and the country roads are far easier to navigate. Parking for one vehicle is available in front of each unit.

Check-out is at 11 am. There is no need to do anything other than close the sliding glass doors before you leave so we can keep the bugs out.

  • Is there a minimum night stay?

Yes, reservations are offered as a two-night block during the week and a three-night block on the weekends with a Friday to Monday stay.

If you can only stay for one or two nights, it's important to note that the pricing structure for weekends is designed with a focus on a 3-night experience. This means that opting for a two-night stay does not alter the cost and allows for a more relaxed Sunday check-out, compared to the standard 11 am departure.

Check-in and check-out days are only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and  Fridays. Please select these days while looking for availability. The booking system will be very confusing if you pick other days.

  • What should I bring?

    Bring:

Groceries: There is a well-stocked Ingles in Summerville, GA, and a Walmart in Trion, GA, for grocery runs.

    Condiments

    Rain jacket

    Comfortable shoes/hiking boots

    Sunscreen

Additional bundles of firewood. We provide one complimentary bundle

    Leave at Home:

High heels! Wedges may be fine, but please leave the stilettoes at home

Guns: No guns and hunting are allowed on the property

Pots and pans and kitchen tools: All tents have one 9 inch pan, two small pots, can opener, wine opener, peeler, knives, spatula and spoon, tin foil, colander, ice machine, and grilling tools.

    Dishes and cutlery

  • Do you allow day visitors?

No, we do not allow day visitors at the property, even if they are with registered guests.

  • Is there a restaurant on-site?

There are no on-site food services at this time, but we are working on offering artisan picnic platters and gourmet meal kits.

We love the experience of cooking outdoors, and if you feel the same, we have made it easy for you by providing a gas grill on the covered patio and a campfire pit on the lower deck.

If cooking isn't your thing, there are several lovely restaurants in Summerville or Mentone which are 15-20mins away.

  • Is there AC or heat?

The tents have a split AC/Heat unit that will keep you comfortable all year round. We also have a wood-burning fireplace for extra warmth that creates a beautiful atmosphere of intimacy and romance.

Do note that while the mini-split is effective, it can never match the temperature levels of a fully insulated home.

Our aim is to provide an authentic experience in the great outdoors while being as comfortable as possible in a tented lodging.

  • What is a hydrophobic mattress?

Our top-of-the-line mattresses are specially designed for use in outdoor lodging. Their hydrophobic properties mean they do not retain moisture like regular foam or latex mattresses. A silver treatment eliminates bacteria and viruses, resulting in a clean and healthy mattress inside and outside.

  • Are there critters and animals on the property?

Dunya is in an unspoiled and untouched corner of North Georgia. You'll occasionally see animals that are common in rural areas - deer, wild turkeys, and many beautiful birds. We are not in bear country, but we have heard reports of an occasional bear passing through the area. Please do not leave food outside.

As with most remote and rural properties, there are some snakes. Please do not stray from the roads and walking paths; leave them alone if you see one.

  • Is there wifi and mobile coverage?

    We have Wi-Fi.

Verizon and AT&T provide the best cell phone coverage on property. The rest of the cell phone providers have spotty service.

  • What is the cancellation policy?

We have a strict cancellation policy. To receive a full refund, guests must cancel within 48 hours of booking, and the cancellation must occur at least 14 days before check-in.

You can purchase Worry-Free Bookings insurance while making your reservation which cover illness and bevearement related cancellations, and we encourage you to buy this trip insurance.

  • How is the Dunya Camp experience in the winter?

Dunya Camp takes on a whole new charm in the winter. Our key features shine during the colder months, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a comfortable winter experience.

Our sauna and hot tub offer a warm retreat, perfect for relaxing amidst nature. The wood-burning fireplace creates a snug vibe for shared moments. With insulated decks, heating from a mini-split unit, and additional portable heaters, the tent stays warm and toasty.

Georgia winters are typically mild. Open up the flaps during the day, and with the sun streaming in, enjoy the warmth of a crackling fire, creating a romantic and cozy ambiance that adds a special touch to your stay.
